Tortelier -Chiffoleau Mon Cirque … Premiere Mondiale
Yvan Chiffoleau, violoncelle Cassado, suite - Kodaly, sonate op.8 - Tortelier, Mon cirque
Three very different works are grouped together on this recording. The famous SonataKODALY; Suite of Cassado and "My Circus" by Paul Tortelier, here engraved for the first time.
The Sonata KODALY, I had done sixteen years ago a first etching. Maturity helps, I wanted to come back in better express this famous freedom which we hear so muchabout this work. I would rather say that the interpreter must seek to find in this extraordinary score, a speech of great flexibility, since it is true that Zoltan Kodaly was a musician of great rigor, who hated her for making music a freedom that would look more like acquiescence, as one can sometimes hear in young performers. And it is clear that this is in no doubt, one of the major difficulties of this score, especially in thefirst movement, regardless of his great instrumental requirements.
The Suite Cassado is not so remote in time from the Sonata KODALY, as only 11years apart, the latter being her earlier. On a less innovative language, it is the interpreter of the most rewarding, and a less difficult.
As for "My Circus" by Paul Tortelier, he seems to be a first album. As will become clear later in the text that I dedicate this piece, it's almost a challenge here. But at the sametime, also this challenge, it seemed interesting to show this little-known side of the great performer, if not experts, through this imaginative score in all respects, I havetaken a great fun, despite some suffering!
