Jean-Marc SALZMANN, baryton
Pierre CUSSAC, accordéon
the accordion
Born in 1829 in the midst of musical romanticism, the accordion quickly became mandatory for all fashion- able tunes that were reverberating in the salons of the bourgeoisie and the aristocracy. Some even claim that Empress consort Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III, played the accordion!
It was very tempting to have it relive the great adventure of opera music.
The « Operaccordion » project saw the light when two musical genera- tions met through a mutual passion, the passion to coalesce two musical worlds that we rarely witness united: an operatic voice and an accordion!
