Jacques Leguerney - Mélodies
Although Jacques Leguerney is one of the major melodists of our time, his personality and work remain largely
unknown to the music-loving public. Through the expressive and poetic richness of this body of work, emerges the image of a unique and exceptional creative output which constitutes a “stage of achievement” in the history of the French melody. Through his perfect craftsmanship and the expressive power of his music, Jacques Leguerney cultivates the taste for a melody encompassing contemplation, meditation, and reverie: an ideal and eternal melody, emerging as a true celebration of the French melody genre.
Although he refuses to belong to a “school of music”, Jacques Leguerney does have a place within the French melod
y movement. His melodic compositions are often drawn from early texts taken from poems included in the Pléiade, especially those of Ronsard (8 collections), as well as little known contemporary poets.
