André Jolivet - Œuvres pour piano vol.1

This volume is the first route through the work for solo piano by André Jolivet, of his first album, written while he was still a teenager, to parts of the mature, composed some twenty years later, such as Mana and Cosmogony. Such a set for varied it may be, carries with it a strong unit to be placed under the sign of non-uniform, but as in all works rich, complex, sometimes paradoxical, in any case always voltage: the latter is central to the aesthetics of the composer, and one finds the origin in the very personality of Jolivet, both man committed humanist left all fed ideals of brotherhood, and composer requiring always looking for innovation and renewal. For how to reconcile accessibility and avant-garde, how to write works comprehensible to the greatest number of works capable of achieving union or communion of all men, without renouncing to a requirement that insulation more a composer friend and brother public? Because everyone knows the fate of more radical designers, especially not the friend of Varese, which during most of his life, crossed the "desert" of loneliness peculiar to neglected genius ...

That tension, so fundamentally rooted in the person of the composer, is reflected in its production to the point of truly unite: well, the pieces in this volume demonstrate different balancing turns this double postulation, depending whether they are more or less types or forms known by the auditors, such as the tango or the rumba, then easily integrated into the soundscape, or they move away from such determinations, as is true in Cosmo or Mana. But this tension also informs each work in particular, "works like" being transcended by the composer own stylistic features, as are more remote works expectations of the listener, more radically new, include specific elements to make him familiar with the work and ensure its adherence.
