The " Pieces de clavecin en concerts» Jean Philippe Rameau appeared in Paris in 1741. This publication , with its rich success is followed by a second printing in 1752 , and an English edition produced by Walsh appeared in 1750. Original set of chamber music concerts they include five written for harpsichord concerto , violin (or transverse flute ) and bass viol (or second violin) .
Jean Philippe Rameau was then 58 years old . At the height of his fame , he transcribed for harpsichord several " Symphonies " extracted from his stage works , like those of India Galantes . It also adapts to the orchestra of the Royal Academy of Music some beautiful pieces from his books for harpsichord . Transcription is far from being an isolated in Baroque Europe. Leroux , Couperin, Bach family , Handel ... all authors to consider this habit almost home . The temptation was too strong not to transcribe for two keyboard instruments this magnificent body of chamber music.
This disc appears after an intense year of work open book, multiple tests directly from the keyboard and often from improvisation. Many idiomatic questions lead to some bold options. The transcription and bends to sound of this instrument needs its fleeting , loose or seized short , its clarity and brilliance , as well as its softness and its great delicacy.
